"Thinking Out Loud" about the life of adolescents.

Russian Community A broadcast dedicated to the problems of free time among youth and their difficulties in finding jobs was hosted by Ari Kogan in his popular program “Here in America” on the TV station RTN.
The guest of the program was Sergey Kovalyov, a well-known businessman in the community and public figure, who shared the results of official surveys on this matter and his opinion about the importance preparatory professional orientation and timely job placement has in the life of today’s youth.

          Russian Community The Petition in support of the “I am my own boss” project continues to grow from an unending stream of signatures by citizens of New York.
This project, regardless of age, residence or how busy one is at school, gives adolescents the know-how to run their own businesses or find good paying jobs.

Founded in 1991 by immigrants from the former Soviet Union, the husband and wife team of Rudy and Elena Prokupets, Lenel System International Inc” has become the company of choice for such security-conscious organizations as Cisco, Microsoft, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy etc.

Our children are our pride.

It is no coincidence that the population of the Russian-American community is known for the high quality of its education. The younger generation of the community, already born in America, is also keeping up with its parents.  Children from the Russian-speaking community obtained the highest scores according to results of the SAT test in 2005.  Two of them even received “perfect SAT scores.”

The government of the Russian Federation handed out decorations to immigrant war veterans.

The government of the Russian Federation does not forget its heroes who are now living permanently abroad.  On the occasion of celebrating Victory Day over fascist Germany, a representative from the consulate of the Russian Federation in New York Mr. Andrey Pugachev handed out anniversary medals to war veterans who live in the Russian-American community of New York.

Memory Day.

A Day of Memory was held in honor of one of the brightest representatives of the younger generation and pride of the Russian-speaking community, Alex Braginsky, who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Cultural life

The latest premiere of the STEPS Theater showed New York audiences a new work by the director Slava Stepnov.  The performance, entitled “Little Spider,” is based on a play by a contemporary Russian playwright and tells the story of one romance.  The play is performed on Saturdays and Sundays in the Maestro Theater (Brooklyn).
