Tips
for selecting the right cellular phone services
Picking the right provider.
If you are about to buy a cellular phone, then the first thing
you have to do is to pick the right service provider, and only then
choosing your handset. You have to realize that each cellular phone
company offers different
plans and services. Make sure the plan and discounts they offer will
meet your needs and requirements. There are many different
names currently on the market, Cingular (AT&T), T-Mobil, Nextel,
Verizon. You have to choose which one is better for you.
Different technologies. It's
always good to know that wireless phone service providers are using different
technologies. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Global System for Mobile
Communications (GSM). CDMA is using digital modulation for personal
communications devices such as mobile phones. CDMA is widespread in the United
States. GSM is a digital mobile system widely used in Europe. GSM cellular phone
comes with convenient SIM card, also users can find much wider selection of the
phones for GSM. Eight simultaneous calls
could be done on the same radio frequency by using GSM. The techniques of GSM
can be also used for Web-phone communication. You have to know that you cannot use GSM phone for CDMA or CDMA phone for GSM. If you travel overseas or you like
changing your handset on the latest cellular phone, may be GSM would be the better
choice for you. (But you have to remember, not every GSM cellular phone will work
overseas.) You have to ask at the store which telecommunication system is better
for you.
Make your decision based on reception in your area.
You have to know that different locations have different coverage. It's not
really an easy task to find out which location is covered or not by selected
cellular phone company. Everything is based on experience, so ask your fiends or relatives
which service they are using. May be you should even ask someone to borrow you
cellular phone to test it in your area.
